Software Engineering As a Fad

Software is like fashion, some folks are inspired and get emotional about fads. Whatever works as a motivation  - is good for me. Still, in my mind I separate the timeless from the temporary.

Another takeaway is, when you write a piece of code, you are not just implementing a functionality, be aware that you are making a fashion statement too.

Steve Tockey in his book “How to Engineer Software”, asks a question, "Is Software Engineering belongs to Software or to Engineering?"

The answer might surprise you, “It belongs to neither. It is a part of a fashion industry”
